Advertising infrastructure for businesses without a media buyer
Most ad platforms are built for advertisers with a team, a data warehouse and a monthly retainer. We are building the one for everybody else.
What we are
Ads.Mahhala is a self-serve advertising network. Advertisers create a campaign, set a budget and a target audience, and their ads run across a network of independent publisher websites. Publishers register the space they have to sell and earn a share of what runs in it. We handle the matching, the delivery, the measurement and the money.
That is an old idea, and we are not pretending otherwise. What is worth changing is who it is built for and how it treats the people who end up seeing the ads.
Why we built it
Two problems meet in the middle here, and solving either one alone does not work.
A small business trying to advertise ends up in an auction against companies with full-time media buyers and years of conversion data, and loses — quietly, expensively, and usually while being told the problem is their creative. Meanwhile an independent publisher with a genuinely good audience has no practical way to sell that audience to the small businesses who would most want it. Both sides need the same missing piece: something that does the introduction without requiring either of them to hire anyone.
The part we did differently
Our advertising sets no cookies. Not on this site, and not on the publisher pages where the ads appear. Ads are matched to the page and the audience the publisher has declared, not to a profile assembled by following someone around the web.
That costs us some measurement precision, and we would rather say so than pretend it is free. What it buys is advertising that works the same for readers who block trackers, adds nothing to a publisher's consent banner, and does not make a small brand look like it has been watching its customers. Details are in the Cookie Policy, which is written to be read.
What we hold to
Priced for a real budget
Set ten a day and you spend ten a day. No bid strategy to misconfigure into burning a month of budget by Tuesday, and no minimum spend that quietly excludes the businesses we built this for.
Reporting you can check
Impressions, clicks, spend and conversions, from our own records, with the attribution window stated plainly. We would rather show you a smaller honest number than a flattering one.
Inventory that is actually looked at
Publisher accounts are reviewed by a person, not opened by a form. Invalid traffic gets credited back to advertisers and clawed back from whoever generated it. The network is only worth buying if that stays true.
Privacy as a constraint, not a policy
We built delivery so it cannot accumulate a cross-site profile, rather than promising not to. A constraint in the architecture survives a change of mind; a promise in a document does not.
Part of Mahhala
Ads.Mahhala and mahha.la are both operated by Mahhala Inc. The marketplace helps people find independent stores; the ad network helps independent businesses be found. They share a design system and a set of opinions, and they keep separate accounts, separate data and separate policies.
